What is Goodtype?
The short story
Goodtype is a place for type lovers, artists, and designers to connect, nerd out, and level up their creative businesses.
The Long Story
Goodtype has been serving up inspiration and connecting type designers, letterers, and calligraphers since 2013.
After a bicycle trip down the west coast reinvigorated her love for letters, founder Bode Robinson set out to share their passion by curating a type account on Instagram. Bode’s affection for the letter arts was clearly contagious, because within a few years, Goodtype had become the go-to place for typographic inspiration with an international following of over 1 million. Bode set the bar high for Goodtype, creating a welcoming space where new voices could be heard and new talent could emerge.

We’re artists who run our own businesses and connected via an Instagram message. That simple message led to us teach our first online course together (without ever having met in person—thanks Internet!), and eventually, to join forces in a much bigger way to teach artists about business! Things snowballed from there, and now we’re so very proud to be co-owners of Goodtype.
Meet
Katie Johnson
Katie is a queso-loving lettering artist who lives in Austin, Texas with her musically gifted husband, 2 cats, and a beloved Aussiedoodle. She’s a former competitive roller skater and jazz vocalist who eats pasta and binges reality tv like it’s her job.

Ilana Griffo
Ilana has some athletic accolades, but you definitely wouldn’t care about them. She’s a dog lady through and through. She also wears a few other hats including mama and published author. She lives in Rochester, NY with her bike racing, project crushing husband, Gregg.
